Our vision is to build a community around God's Word.
The purpose is so people can Know God better, Love God deeper, and Serve God greater.
This is based on the Shema and the two Greatest Commandments, where serving God by loving others is a response of one's love for God. This love for God requires a knowledge of God and responding to that knowledge through a reorienting of one's entire being toward God (sacrificially loving God with ALL of one's heart, soul, mind, and strength).
The mission of SJCC, how we are planning to achieve this vision, is based on the foundation principles of the early church, which consisted of studying the Bible, prayer, fellowship, and communion (Acts 2:42). Therefore, everything that we do will be focused on and contain these core aspects of church.
We desire, through the studying of the Bible, to help believers discover the glory of God revealed in Scripture, the biblical treasures that will produce a reverence for and awe of God that fuels their worship of Him.
We desire for SJCC to be a praying church, as nothing of significance happens apart from prayer (J. Falwell Sr.).
We desire for fellowship to be intimate and focused on encouragement in the faith, theologically refining conversations, godly support, and building strong Christian relationships.
We desire to remain focused on the sacrifice that set us free and gave us new life, through taking communion as a church and remembering all that Jesus has done.
Therefore, these will be the foundational practices of SJCC to achieve our vision.
These values are what define the ministry of SJCC, its mission, and its leadership. These will guide SJCC as it continues to navigate the complexities of serving and equipping the saints in a changing and complex culture, ensuring a continual and strong focus on the biblical expectations of a New Testament church.
